Why PPO?
Any tips for securing a PPO?
Importance of good relations within the company?
Criteria used while handing out PPOs?
How did you stand out among your colleagues?
Summary of the specifics.
This question is very subjective, and I think it depends on the person. During two months of the internship, you get the idea if you want to work in that company further or not. You get the idea about the culture of the company. Obviously, you can try for better opportunities during the placement season, but because of covid-19 I was not sure about that and went with the PPO.
The only trick is smart work or hard work. If you really want a PPO in that company, do not take the internship lightly. Be proactive. Ask your manager/mentor to discuss with you, do some research work beforehand, look interested and ask doubts. Even if they give you a 1-week time to do some work, take them on call before that and give your update and ASK FOR FEEDBACK. And do not agree with them on every point. If you have any doubts or if you disagree on some point, speak to them. Have professional debate (do not argue).
If you are sincere and your work quality is good, then obviously your relationship will be good with seniors. But as I said above, your relationship with your mentor plays an important role. As he/she is going to talk about you in front of seniors in your absence.
I can only talk about my company as it's different for different companies. CG was not the main criteria here. PPO was given based on the performance during those 2 months. They check your problem-solving skills and your dedication to tasks. My intern work was very hectic, and I didn’t have Saturdays off. Instead of making excuses, I chose to work with my mentor and that’s what they see. How serious you are, and how you manage your time.
I think the project I was given. My mentor was the Products head, so I was given a complete product to work on. Also, my mentor arranged a special presentation in front of a CEO, and he used to keep me in important meeting sessions. So, I was always in the eyes of the CEO and other senior officials and they used to keep me in loops for important decisions as I was handling that product. So basically, your mentor plays an important role here. Impress him/her with your skills and seriousness, then he/she will help you in getting the PPO.
I had two presentations during my tenure i.e. Mid review and Final review in front of CEO and other senior officials of the company. In those reviews, we had to present the work we had done and what were our suggestions to the company to improve that section. That was it, there was no interview after that.
