When to start preparing for the Placement season?
Comparison between your intern and placement interviews?
Learnings from this placement season?
How did you decide your field of interest? What about backups?
If someone does not get an intern via OCS in their 3rd year,
what should they do?
Major problems that you faced?
Online vs Offline placements?
Does the higher studies application timeline and placement
session go along easily?
Necessities for targeting your field?
I had a decent level of coding from the courses and assignments like COL100 and COL106 but I didn't have the level of practice and speed that the coding tests
required. I started on a very light note from April till my intern in June and then from July onwards I started coding seriously till October after which the company
tests started taking place continuously.

Both the intern and placements interviews had almost the same level of coding, puzzles, probability and HR questions. Interviewers in both of these were very supportive and had shown positive attitudes.

Placement interviews were having more topics including OOPS, OS, Networks and DBMS.

One good thing I did is I went through the previously asked questions of companies that were asked heavily in my tests also I have discussed with my friends the questions that came in their internship tests the same year.
Having groups for discussion is very much beneficial. You can also try to give mock tests and interviews since these things increased your time management and efficiency.
One regret is that in the beginning of tests, some questions that had already been done by me, I was not able to do it at that time because of nervousness and panic.

My preferred choice was SDE and probably quant. I had some experience in building android and web apps. I also liked coding since things looked very logical and to the point to me. Finally, after completing my internship I became confident of pursuing my career in this field.
People from the CS and MNC department may have quant as a backup option since questions that were asked are more of similar nature.

There are plenty of opportunities present outside that can be easily found using linkedin, alumni referral and also the career portal of companies. Also there are many startups which provide internships relatively easily. Also, If someone didn't get any internship, it will rarely affect their placements for the SDE profile. The things which matter are their skills, enough practice and basic knowledge.
The main problem I faced that the question seems to be very difficult
at first since I was having lack of practice and also I had not studied hard topics like DP and Graph (Later I realized that the questions were of moderate level if solved using these)
In the beginning, I didn't have any discussion groups that caused lack of motivation and made things difficult to grasp and time taking.

It may happen that both the timelines clash. The main problem arises is that the placement interviews and college application clashes from October to December, so one has to manage the time to make things go easily.
Most important thing to clear placement coding tests is having good practice of programming. Some companies also ask quant, puzzles, OS, DBMS, comprehension whose resources are easily available from websites like GFG. Most of the questions are repeated and sometimes they ask the same questions that have been asked previously.
For interviews, go through and prepare your CV thoroughly. I had practiced competitive coding on Interviewbit, Leetcode, GFG and some on codeforces and codechef , puzzles on Brainsteller and Other stuff like OOPS, OS from GFG. You can also find some drive links from seniors where every resource is already present.

Be very confident with your answers because the interviewer can try to trick you.
Don't fake yourself, be confident, even if you don't know any answer say it directly to the interviewer (sometimes they can give you hints also)
There can be situation when you may not have shortlist in a company but at interview time they can waitlist you and even select you (happened with me)
Have a good practice of questions especially from the topic like Graph, DP, Tress.

Takeaways
Giving an online interview felt more natural to me because I was at my home, having a friendly environment and family support. There was less nervousness and mental pressure.v
